Every month in the Canton Arts District, we have this thing that we call First Fridays. Some claim that everyone comes downtown to see all the arts activities that we have goin’ on. But this picture is evidence of who they really come to see.

OK, yeah, they’re lookin’ the other way, but that was only fur a moment.

Every January they have an ice festival on First Friday. They have ice carvers all over the Arts District and other fun schtuffs.

The premiere event of the night is the lighting of the Fire and Ice Tower, which just happened to be below my window this year. BZTAT videotaped it so you could watch it too. She forgot to hold the camera horizontally so it’s vertical, which is sorta annoying on YouTube. It’s also a little shaky cuz she had a iron grip on me, which you can see I sorta protest against.

Here is one of the other ice sculptures and the Creative Cardboard Ice Castle that BZTAT made (she stayed in where it was warm).

“Black Cat Venus” digital art by BZTAT

Venus and her twin furball Dahlia are two kitties that passed my way recently. They have an amazing story!

As you may know, black kitties are harder to place in homes than any other color of cat. Fur some stupid reason, humans have superstitions about black cats, so they tend to pass over them when looking fur a new pet.

Venus and Dahlia are two kits whose numbers were just about up at the Broward Animal Control in Pompano, FL. EEK! If they didn’t find a home soon, they were gonna be facin’ that E-word that means that they’d go to sleep and never wake up.

My good furriend Dorian from Your Daily Cute snapped into action to save these 2 sweet girls.  She posted about it on her blog and, lo and behold, she found them a home! Only problem was, the home was in Cleveland, OH.

OHIO you say? That’s over 1200 miles away!

Undaunted, Dorian set up a transport relay plan, and catgone it, we got those girls to Cleveland! As you know, yours truly lives in Ohio, and my human BZTAT helped out. She brought them from Charleston, WV to here in Canton, Where they met their new mom Michele.

BZTAT kept them locked in the office the night that they stayed with us, so I did not get to know them too well. We did do some meowin’ and sniffin’ through the door. They seemed to enjoy our Scratchkabin. (More about that amazin’ product in a future post.)

Dahlia was a bit shy, I hear, but her new mom says she is becoming less timid and both are enjoyin’ their new home.

A storm of epic proportions

It really sucks being an only pet. Take it from the guinea pig.

I can only imagine the loneliness felt by this little dude.

I am lucky. Except fur that brief time when I was a small kitten lost on a country road before I was rescued, I have never been alone.

I have 4 other fur pals who, along with me, are pets that add life to my human’s existence.

Brew’s Crew

My human never really intended to have 5 of us. Three would have been a more ideal number. Stuff happens.

Still yet, she has been committed to having more than one pet fur a long time.

My human once had a cat named Beezie (from whom she took the moniker BZTAT) who became overweight and lazy when she was a single pet. Although Beezie was not particularly fond of Bub and later on Slick, Beezie became more active and entertained when these cats came into her life.

Ever since then, my human has never had just one pet. When Beezie and Bub went to the Bridge within a year of each other, leaving Slick alone, my human went out and found Noah and me to keep her company.

The Pets Add Life (PAL) Campaign is “designed to demonstrate the joys and benefits of pet ownership, thus driving increased adoption of pets and responsible ownership of pets.” They asked me to talk about it, because my life is all about what the campaign promotes. I was adopted. I bring lotsa joy to my human, and I live in a multiple pet household.

So here’s the thing. Your human can be like mine and make a commitment to these same things. Get yer human to take the pledge!

As of this writing, 223 people have pledged to adopt their next pet; 118 have pledged to volunteer at a shelter; and 165 have pledged to share a photo of a homeless pet with others to help it find a home. You could add to those numbers by getting yer human to sign on and by sharing it with others.

Whatcha waitin’ fur?

Oh yeah, and lets help some homeless turtle get connected to this guinea pig. They really need each other.

Now humans will have you believe that cats are to blame when something goes wrong. I beg to differ.

Here’s the scoop.

Our web host where we register our domains starts sendin’ us emails to re-up several months in advance. BZTAT knows that they save the good deals up until a week before yer registration is about to expire, so she puts it off. But this time, she was really busy the week of the expiration, and she furgot. Oops.

That meant all of our websites went dead fur a time. Now she was on it fast, and she renewed before any damage was done. But fur some reason, my site didn’t come back up right. Her site came back up instantly, but mine didn’t.

So she called them, and they said wait 48 hours. We did. No luck.

Finally, I complained on Twitter, and they got it runnin’ again in a blink. Hmmm.

I apologize fur the downtime and I will try to make sure this does not ever happen again.

But there is a point here. Ya gotta be careful with yer stuff when yer really dependent on computers.

That brings up another issue that is separate, but similar.

Saving data. You know, all those gorgeous photos that humans take of you and other important documents you have.

My buddy Romeo the Cat told me about this great new product Surdoc that can help you do that, and they actually are sensitive to cat people. They came up with this cleaver infographic to explain how you can protect your computer.  One little catveat – we know that that they are projecting human behavior on us. WE are not the ones damaging computers.

That last part about backing up online is a really good idea. And to give a paw to cat peeps to use it, they will give you a free 30 GB account, too, if you use the code CATPROOF. We are going to give it a try – you should too!

Although if ya ask me, I think the code should be HUMANPROOF. Just meowin’.

I was fakin’! Honest! I don’t need to see Dr. Jeff!

OK. I admit it. I woke up feelin’ yucky.

I won’t give ya all the details. Let’s just say that I didn’t want breakfast, and things were not comin’ out right the other end, so to meow.

But hey. I am a strong cat. I can kick this thing!

No need to take me to the V-E-T…

BZTAT gets so freaked when things are not right with me.

I hate the carrier and I hate the car ride. Why does BZTAT throw both at me when I am at my weakest?

GET ME OUTA HERE!!!

This table is cold!

Now Dr. Jeff is a pretty nice guy as far as V-E-T’s go, but he did do some pokin’ and proddin’ that is really sorta embarassin’ fur a mancat.

He took some of my blood and shot me up with some subcutaneous fluids. Seems I was a bit dehydrated.

We will find out tomorrow if there is anything strange about my bloodwork, but Dr. Jeff says he thinks it may be connected to a recent food change I had. I did not have a temperature, and he did not think it was too serious.

Who let THAT in here?!!!

That’s good, cuz I really do not want to hafta come back HERE anytime soon.

I hafta eat special food, and I hafta take a pill every 8 hrs.

It’s good to be home.

But at least I am home.

I nibbled a bit on the special food late last night, and it wasn’t too bad.

Things are lookin’ up.

I will let ya know when I am back to myself. Fur now, think I will take a nap.

Meh.

UPDATE:  I am feelin’ much better this mornin’, thank you. And Dr. Jeff says my blood work is normal. Still a bit meh, but I will be OK. Thanks fur yer concern.
