Brew and NoahNoah is my best pal.

I know, I have lotsa cyber friends who are all very special to me, but Noah is my real life pal. He is like my brother. Always there to lean on. Literally.

Who is my pal too, but Noah has been with me since the day BZTAT brought me to live with her. Who came to live with us later, although he is Noah’s biological brother.

When Noah has a problem, I wanna help him the best I can.

And Noah does have a problem.

I don’t mean to be harsh. It is just a fact. Noah is a mess.

He has had a problem with obesity for 4 of his 6 years of life. Because he is so big, he can’t groom himself so well, and being an extra fluffy cat — well, he is a mess.

It isn’t that he is overfed. He once was on a prescription food from the vet that put us all on a feeding schedule and portion control. He didn’t change.

I want to help him out, so I put my cyber network to work fur us. I found out about this new pet food company that was created out of concern for the way that over the counter pet foods have so much schtuff in them that is unhealthy.

The CEO of Nulo (Nutrition Meets Love)  saw a lot of obesity and obesity-related health problems in animals that just didn’t hafta happen. So he went to a lotta trouble to create a team to develop this new healthy pet food.

I am happy to report that Noah has been selected as one of 12 pets to participate in a 90 day blogging campaign to chronicle their experiences with the Nulo line of pet food.  For 90 days, we will track his weight, exercise and other activities through my blog and by using the Nulo fancy schwancy website Resource Center.

Noah doesn’t blog himself. His paws are just too big fur the keyboard. He tried to tweet once and it wasn’t pretty. So I have agreed to summarize things fur him fur the Nu Campaign.

In fact, I am trying the new food myself, as are Slick and Who. We are all gonna try it cuz, well, we all wanna be healthy. And Nulo is about eating healthy, not just losing weight.

I wanna see my pal Noah get in better shape, so I am willin’ to support him by goin’ through the process with him.

Also, Nulo has agreed to provide us with a $500 Nulo food voucher, $250 donated to a pet-related non-profit organization of our choosing, and we get to be entered in a drawing to have a chance to win $1000 for our favorite organization, after the 90 day campaign.

Now, I gotta be honest with ya. Noah has taken to the schtuff faster than I have.

It is a little strange to me, as I am a junk food junkie, and these healthy noms are an adjustment fur me. I hear that happens with some cats.

I guess I am just gonna have to get used to healthier noms, yo.

You can see in this video, though, that Noah has no issue with the new noms.

Just to get a sense of scale, the tiles in the video are 12′ squares. Noah’s first weigh-in was 20 lbs even.

The Nulo CEO calls Noah the Shaq of cats.

Lets see if we can get this Shaq back on the court as a contender.

Just Meowin,

The Brew

Disclosure: Nulo has generously provided free product and other benefits in exchange for our participation in the Nu Campaign to fight pet obesity. We are happy to be a part of this awareness campaign, however, all of the opinions about the product are mine and not dictated in any way by the company.

  1. Wow, this is going to be interesting to follow – we hope it works for Noah! And we are curious – Noah looks to be a big boy – what does the vet think is a good weight for him. I know that larger cats (which Noah appears to be) would need to be heavier and snaller cats would of course be smaller (we have a small cat and a big cat – neither are heavy but there is a noticible difference in things like height, length, head size, things like that). We hope that you all start to like the food soon – we can’t wait to hear how this goes because we have heard about this food before and are very curious!

    • Noah is a big cat, so even if he was at a more acceptable weight, he likely would weigh more than the average cat. We are not looking for him to lose weight solely. We are looking for overall fitness. The Nulo System has tools to gauge his overall fitness – one of the reasons we were drawn to the program. You can try out the tools at their website for free if yer interested.

To answer yer question — we do not have a target weight. We are looking more for his body shape to improve more than to shoot for a specific weight.

  2. Wow. He sure iz a big boy! Furry handsome, too! (As are you, Brew!) We hopes you all likes da noo noms. We will watch and see, cuz Munchkin needs to go on a d-i-e-t, too.

Shhhhh! Don’t tell her I said so!

    Signed, Tigger
